The First Annual Rock 'N Derby Festival ended night one with an explosive set by perennial top-selling rockers Five Finger Death Punch!  Drummer Jeremy Spencer (with skull make up, signature mohawk, and a light up mouth piece) came out to a dark stage and took his spot behind his custom drum kit.  Singer Ivan Moody, guitarists Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook, and bassist Chris Kael joined the drummer and the band's set was off and running with the smash hit "Lift Me Up".  The energy from the fans was fueled all night by the electricity coming from the stage.  Despite recent talks of lawsuits and potential issues within the band the only thing evident tonight was that Five Finger Death Punch sound strong and put on a riveting live show.

Hearing Moody sing the hits "Bad Company", "Never Enough", "Jekyll and Hyde", and "Wrong Side of Heaven" was surreal and throughout the performance he smiled and played to the crowd as much as he

scowled and stormed across the stage.  Bathory gave the crowd plenty up close moments as he practicaly teetered on the edge of the stage in an attempt to get as close as he could to the screaming, singing NY fans.    There seemed to be something special going on tonight in Schaghticoke, NY.   I've seen 5FDP several times and tonight's set was hot, powerful, and definitely their best performance from those I've seen.
